Intersection Series

The Intersection Series
acrylic paint and oil pastel on faux concrete
The Intersection of War & Peace
Using morse code as the base, the orange circles say "war" and the blue circles say "peace"
Moving top to bottom and left to right; the solid circles represent dots and the outlined circles represent dashes
The Intersection of Fear & Faith
Using Morse Code as the base the black squares say "fear" and the white squares say "faith"
Moving from top to bottom and left to right, the solid black squares represent dots and the outline black squares represent dashes.
For the white squares, the completed squares represent dots and the partial squares represent dashes.
The Intersection of Death & Life
Using Binary Code as the base to represent systemic oppression, the black plus & minus shapes say "death"
Using Tap Code as the base to represent the communication of prisoners of the system, the white dots and partial circles say "life"

Moving from top to bottom and left to right, the black dashes represent 0's and the black + shapes represent 1's.
For the white shapes, starting with the left white image and moving clockwise, count the outer partial circles and that tells you which row the first letter is on the tap code grid. Then counting how many dots are inside the partial circle tells you which column the letter is in the tap code grid.
I posted the tap code grid below the painting
